Our Mission

Gathered in Christ’s name, we seek to create a community of love and acceptance, where each person can grow in faith and understanding, develop their gifts and grace, and engage in ministries of compassion, healing, and reconciliation both locally and globally.

Our Story

Overlook United Methodist Church has served the Woodstock community since 1832, when it was established as the Methodist Episcopal Church of Woodstock.

In 1960, the Woodstock and Wittenberg congregations joined together to form the church community now known as Overlook. The united congregation moved to its present location on Tinker Street in 1967. The current sanctuary was completed in 1982 as the church celebrated its 150th anniversary.

Overlook Today

As part of the Onteora Cooperative Parish of the United Methodist Church, Overlook continues to serve Woodstock and the surrounding communities through fellowship, outreach, and care for our neighbors.

Our Principles

At Overlook, three principles guide how we seek to live in the Way of Jesus. They shape our life together through inspiration and celebration, community service and support, education, prayer and Bible study, and through images, video, writing, and witness.

We nurture faith through prayer, Bible study, education, inspiration, celebration, and life together.

Faith & Family

We practice love and compassion through support, community service, prayer, and care for one another and our neighbors.

Love & Compassion

We seek justice and peace through service, education, and faithful witness—in our words, images, actions, and our life together.
